ドイツ正統派の音を持つ名門オーケストラ
1945年に設立されたNDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団（旧ハンブルク北ドイツ放送交響楽団）は、高水準の演奏技術と卓越した音楽性により世界的地位を確立してきた名門オーケストラです。
2017年、拠点を新設エルプフィルハーモニーホールへ移行したことから、名称を「NDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団」と変更しました。今回は15年ぶりの京都公演となるうえに、新スタートを切った名門オケの現在を知る、絶好の機会となります。
次期首席指揮者アラン・ギルバートとNDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団が最も得意とするドイツ古典・ロマン派音楽をプログラミング。ソリストには屈指のベートーヴェン弾きとして知られるルドルフ・ブッフビンダーを迎えて、極上のドイツ音楽をお届けします。 -
NDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団の魅力に迫る
前回の京都公演について
今から１５年前の２００３年（平成１５年）５月１８日（日）、ハンブルク北ドイツ放送交響楽団（現 NDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団）が初めて京都コンサートホールにやってきました。
指揮は１９９８年から２００４年までハンブルク北ドイツ放送交響楽団の首席指揮者を務めた、名匠クリストフ・エッシェンバッハ。
プログラムには、シューベルトの交響曲第７番「未完成」とマーラーの交響曲第５番が選ばれ、その見事な演奏に会場は拍手喝采で包まれました。

アラン・ギルバート（指揮）
Alan Gilbert, Conductor2009年より2017年まで8シーズンにわたりニューヨーク・フィルハーモニック音楽監督を務め、ベルリン・フィル、ロイヤル・コンセルトヘボウ管などにも定期的に客演。メトロポリタン歌劇場や初代音楽監督を務めているサンタフェ・オペラなどにてオペラ公演を指揮。ニューヨーク・フィルでは、リゲティ「ラ・グラン・マカーブル」、ヤナーチェク「利口な女狐の物語」等のステージ・プロダクションを指揮、絶賛を博し、現代音楽作品のための２つのシリーズ「CONTACT!」と「NY PHIL BIENNIAL」の立ち上げなど、その芸術性を広げる活動が高く評価された。また、ジュリアード音楽院において指揮科とオーケストラ科のディレクターを務める。アメリカ芸術科学アカデミー（14年）、外交政策協会（15年）をそれぞれ受賞。テレビ放映された「スゥイーニー・トッド」により、15年のエミー賞優秀音楽監督賞にノミネートされた。ロイヤル・ストックホルム・フィル桂冠指揮者。18年4月より東京都交響楽団の首席客演指揮者、19年9月よりNDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団の首席指揮者にそれぞれ就任する。

プロフィール
ルドルフ・ブッフビンダー（ピアノ）
Rudolf Buchbinder, Pianoウィーン生まれ。11歳でウィーン音楽大学の名教師ザイドルホーファーに師事した。室内楽奏者としてキャリアをスタートしたが、徐々にソリストとしての活動が主になり、欧米、日本などでコンサートを行うほか、ザルツブルク音楽祭などに例年招待され、また世界的なオーケストラ、指揮者と共演している。レパートリーは非常に広く、録音も100を超える。近年ではアーノンクール指揮コンセルトヘボウ管とのブラームスの協奏曲、ウィーン・フィルを弾き振りしたモーツァルトの協奏曲などがあり、また現在はベートーヴェンのソナタ全曲録音や、ミュンヘン、ウィーン、チューリヒなどでそのチクルスを行い、高く評価されている。

NDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団 NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra
1945年創立。2017年1月、ハンブルクに本拠となる新ホールのエルプフィルハーモニーが建ったことに合わせ、ハンブルク北ドイツ放送交響楽団はNDRエルプフィルハーモニー管弦楽団と改称した。この楽団は初代首席指揮者H.S=イッセルシュテットによって早くも現在の音楽的性格が決定づけられ、当時はフルトヴェングラー、E.クライバー、クレンペラー、クナッパーツブッシュ、ベーム、フリッチャイらといった錚々たる大家が指揮台に立った。以後、首席指揮者はアツモン、テンシュテット、ヴァント、ガーディナー、ブロムシュテット、エッシェンバッハ、ドホナーニが歴任し、現在は実験的な楽曲解釈と型破りなプログラミングで知られる鬼才ヘンゲルブロック。フレキシビリティの増したオーケストラとなった。特に1982年に首席指揮者となり（87年からは永久名誉音楽監督）、2002年に逝去するまで同団を率いたヴァントとの緊密な活動は特筆される。2019/20年シーズンからはアラン・ギルバートがこの任に就く。
古典派やロマン派のレパートリーはもちろん、このオーケストラは常に現代音楽も重視しており、マデルナやブーレーズ、ペンデレツキたちの指揮者・作曲家が以前からハンブルクで重要な作品の世界初演を行ってきた。 -

Established in 1945, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester is one of the most renowned orchestras in the world which has upheld its tradition with great conductors. Their masterful performances and superlative sound have cemented their position as a world class orchestra. This is NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester’s first time to return to Kyoto for 15 years. Alan Gilbert, the soon-to-be Chief Conductor and the world-famous pianist, Rudolf Buchbinder, proudly present their All German Program.

- About the 22nd Autumn Kyoto Music Festival -
The two-month long annual “Autumn Kyoto Music Festival” will open its curtain once more. Marking the 22nd year this year, a sum of 33 concerts will be held from September 16th to November 23rd at the Main Hall and the Ensemble Hall Murata (small hall). Welcoming the most excellent musicians from around Japan and the world, a variety of concerts featuring recitals, chamber music and orchestra, will be presented.

- About Kyoto Concert Hall -
In Japan’s capital city of a thousand years, a classical music palace has been born: Kyoto Concert Hall was constructed as a part of a commemorative project in 1995, respecting the 1200th anniversary of the ancient capital “Heiankyo”. The walkway leading to the main entrance, an orderly arrangement of a rust-granite bridge and sculptures, forms a sort of Japanese-style garden, and the entrance hall evokes a musical inspiration you are about to enter. In its center, twelve pillars representing the twelve zodiac symbols of ancient Eastern chronology are set at regular intervals, and their rhythmical placement instills a sense of anticipation of the musical intoxication to come.
In the Main Hall, you will find a truly magnificent acoustic space with its time-honored “shoe-box-style” auditorium to which is added modern refinements. The commanding presence at the head of the stage is Kyoto Concert Hall’s 90-stop pipe organ, built by eminent German organ builders Johannes Klais Orgelbau gmbH & Co.KG. Therewith, the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra based here will lead you into a world of living sound. -
- About NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester -
NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester was established in 1945. Upon the completion of their new home hall, Elbphilharmonie Hall, in Hamburg, the former North German Radio Symphony Orchestra was renamed as NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester. The first principal conductor, H.S.-Isserstedt, determined the orchestra’s musical characteristics which have continued to this day. A number of great conductors have taken the stage, such as Wilhelm Furtwängler, Erich Kleiber, Otto Klemperer, Hans Knappertsbusch, Karl Böhm abd Ferenc Fricsay. The position of the chief conductor was succeeded by Moshe Atzmon, Klaus Tennstedt, Günter Wand, John Eliot Gardiner, Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph Eschenbach, and Christoph von Dohnányi. Today, the orchestra is led by Thomas Hengelbrock who is known for his experimental interpretation of music and maverick programming. NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester is such an extraordinary orchestra of outstanding flexibility. Particularly noteworthy is the great work with Günter Wand who assumed the position of the chief conductor in 1982 (became the Eternal Honorary Music Director from 1987) and led the orchestra until 2002, the year of his passing. From the 2019/20 season, their new chief conductor, Alan Gilbert, will be welcomed and the orchestra will mark a new start.
Not only offering a standard repertoire of classical and romantic, this orchestra always places emphasis on contemporary music, as well. Bruno Maderna, Pierre Boulez, Krzysztof Penderecki and many other renowned conductors and composers often chose Hamburg as the venue of the opening performance for their major pieces.
